Speaking in front of a crowd can be daunting but there are so many occasions in life where we have to do it. A presentation at work, a board meeting, a wedding speech, a job interview, just to name a few. Wouldn't it be great to feel confident about public speaking? To actually, perhaps, enjoy it? Why not try out Toastmasters? Seymour Speakers Toastmasters will be hosting "Bring a Friend" day on Thursday February 4th, 2016. Guest are welcome to the club for free! Our meetings start at 7.30am and run until 8.50am. Our club provides a fun and supportive environment where you can improve not only your public speaking skills, but your leadership and communication skills too. If you are interested in trying us out then please email Lisa Findlay, VP of Membership at email@example.com. See you there!

A HUGE thanks to those of you who came out to the holiday auction on Thursday. And an even HUGER thanks to those of you who were willing to part with your cash all in the name of charity! For a fairly small group, we were willing to spend, spend, spend! We raised $441!!! And it went to Michael's charity of choice: the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. We are officially awesome!

Why did you join Toastmasters? My doctor made me do it, and I am forever thankful to the late Dr. Ferdie Chen. He told me in no uncertain terms ‘to join’, and then, pushed me kicking and screaming all the way. Dr. Ferdie Chen was a ‘living’ legend at the time and the first B.C. Toastmaster to receive a Presidential Citation. He told me that I needed to join Toastmasters to build up my confidence and feeling of self-worth. I joined, and have never looked back. By Arthur Gee. The principal reason to go to Hong Kong for one whole month, was for my wife to visit her 90-year old mother as well as some other family members and friends. Rosy met with her girlfriends on a regular basis, leaving me to my own device. I kept myself busy by wandering the markets, running races and visiting Toastmasters clubs! There were several clubs holding meetings on Thursdays but none of them were in the morning like my home club Seymour Speakers. I decided to visit Dynamic Toastmasters who meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays of the month. They meet in Yau Yat Chuen, Kowloon. After a few subway changes, I finally arrive at L’Hotel Causeway Bay Harbour View. I entered the hotel, took the elevator to the 6th floor, and made my way to the Tin Hau room that seated about 30 people. Dynamic Toastmasters is a President’s Distinguished Club and has been since 1999. The Club is celebrating its 20th Year. At 7pm sharp, the gavel hit the lecture and the club's President, Eunice Su, gave her opening remarks. She then turned the gavel over to the Toastmaster Alex Lai, who is also the Club's Treasurer.
